FIXED INSTALLATIONS
CNN
We were asked by CNN to oversee the integration of their new news facility in London, moving their entire operation from their old building in Great Marlborough Street to a new building in Old Street. This was an exciting opportunity for MHz to get involved in a large-scale IP broadcast system using new technology and SMPTE2110 video infrastructure.
We designed the broadcast systems, oversaw project management, provided engineering services, wiring and installation. The project was a great success and is one of the biggest IP projects we have undertaken so far, with:
Over 1000 1GbE ports
Nearly 1200 Fibre optic connections
52 comms panels
Over 2000 mains connections in the machine room alone
48 racks
Over 10KM of network cable
VEHICLES
SPIRITLAND
2019
Spiritland’s new 18-tonne luxury OB truck
We had worked with Spiritland for a number of months trying to produce an overview design for a class leading sound mobile. What we ended up producing was a game changing OB vehicle.
We designed and built this vehicle ready for service in 2019. It was the first vehicle of its kind to have Dolby Atmos certification for it’s 12 speaker system.
It was fitted with a brand-new SSL T-series broadcast console and the entire audio network used Dante for its ease of use and powerful flexibility.
SATELLITE & RF
VIRGIN MEDIA REFRESH THEIR SATELLITE SYSTEMS WITH MEGAHERTZ
In 2021 Megahertz won a contract with Virgin Media across their three satellite earth station locations including two DR sites and their main hub in Langley. In order to really understand the project our engineering team attended the three sites and created detailed reports which were presented back to the client, evaluating the antenna equipment and infrastructure already in-situ. From these evaluation reports we made suggestions for improving the workflow and highlighted repair and refurbishment work needed.
Since then, Megahertz have been undertaking an RF infrastructure upgrade program at Virgin Media which has been carefully managed to ensure the broadcaster does not lose transmission at any point.
